Headquartered in San Francisco, and backed by SoftBank, Bezos Ventures and Innovation Endeavors, Plenty is searching for our first ever Master Grower who will use their years of growing experience to coach the next generation of growers at Plenty and set aggressive grow-team goals.
This is a rare opportunity. As Master Grower you will be an advisor to the CLevel and Senior leadership team, have access to the latest technologies, work on a viable business that is scaling globally, create our Farm Operations best practices, and serve as a coach and mentor to our talented Grower team globally.
About Role
In this role you will collaborate with growers across Plenty's network of farms to define operational goals, standard operating procedures, and team culture. You'll coach and train staff to hone skills and become exceptional growers. Finally, you'll collaborate with Engineering and Plant Science to ensure that Plenty's development projects incorporate growers' requirements, insights, and feedback.
What You'll Do
R eview, analyze, and drive improvements in growing operations . Specifically analyze seeding, transplant, grow-out, and harvest operations. Develop or maintain processes in these areas.
Set cross-farm grow team goals around yields, loss rates, cycle times, and other growing metrics. Meet or exceed company targets.
Participate in the selection of Head Growers and other growing staff at new farm locations.
Lead the creation and implementation of growing-oriented training courses. Implement programs to ensure growers receive updated training as necessary.
Collaborate with Engineering, Computer Science, and Plant Science team on the selection and implementation of new growing equipment, software, crops, and other tools or techniques.
Oversee company-wide nutrient management program.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s or higher degree in horticulture, agronomy, agriculture, or related field
15+ years work experience in greenhouse, indoor farm, or similar Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) operation, with at least 3 years at a Master Grower level or higher
Experience with multiple types of hydroponic, aquaponics, and/or aeroponic systems, including NFT, DWC, and/or vertical towers
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Experience leading teams of 5-20+ people of a variety of backgrounds to outcome
Experience with fertigation and climate control technology typically used in CEA
Possesses attention to detail
Willing to travel 10-15 days per month
Valid passport/ability to travel internationally and obtain a visa
