What You Will Do

We are seeking a Master Chocolatier who is excited to bring their talent to the cannabis industry. In this position you’ll combine your passion and creativity with your innovation and commercialization experience to successfully scale and meet customer demand for our fast-growing business.

Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Source commercial candy and/or chocolate making equipment to create production lines.
  • Develop, test and recommend new recipes and products and revise formulas/recipes, SOPs and product specifications as needed.
  • Read and understand formulas/recipes, measurements, tapes and thermometers.
  • Read and understand product specifications and recognize and address deviations from those specifications.
  • Produce candies in batches per company standards and monitor more than one batch or process simultaneously.
  • Complete and maintain batch records, sanitation checklists, equipment logs, and other required paperwork.
  • Complete production with precision and efficiency while managing team members and establish and meet weekly production targets.
  • Achieve production efficiencies in line with cost-of-goods-sold targets, and demonstrate expertise in recommending and executing cost control production processes that save time and materials.
  • Handle, label, and store all ingredients and products in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Send product for testing and ensure THC levels are acceptable as set by law.
  • Minimize chocolate loss through careful handling of chocolate and skill with use and care of molds.
  • Follow health code standards and maintain the kitchen in “inspection ready” condition and handle walk through inspections with regulators.
  • Identify and clearly communicate production priorities that align with customer/seasonal demand as well as profitability.
  • Establish ongoing quality control processes that minimize errors and waste and identify root cause and correct quality issues.
  • Ensure that all ingredients necessary for chocolate and confectionery production are accurately stocked, prepared, labeled and ready for use.
Who You Are

The ideal candidate will possess a mastery of chocolate and/or confection making on a commercial scale. This person must be accomplished and highly focused and able to work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Experience scaling a growing company and a passion and enthusiasm for chocolate and candy making, as well as the cannabis industry, is a must!

Additionally, you’ll possess the following:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience working for a national or venerable candy/chocolate company.
  • Previous experience with innovation, commercialization, and scaling in a chocolate/candy manufacturing environment.
  • An eye for detail, quality and the ability to produce fine tempered chocolate and/or confections.
  • Experience overseeing multiple product production lines.
  • A strong command of SOPs and best practices.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, food science, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of our products.
  • Mastery of math and weights and measurements with ingredients.
  • Ability to recognize and adhere to company quality standards on a consistent basis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to get along with others.
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
  • High integrity, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to commit to working through very busy periods of increased demand.
