Marketing Content Manager

The Marketing Content Manager (MCM) is responsible for supporting strategic consumer content programming across North American markets, including, but not limited to content strategy, digital engagement, event programming, social media, webinars, whitepapers, blogs, executive speeches, press releases, and newsletters. The MCM owns MJ Freeway’s overarching brand positioning and voice from strategy to writing to execution in appropriate channels.

  • MCM oversees the entire integrated marketing communications process – from brief definition, to evaluation of plans and creative materials from our PR and design agencies, to content idea generation, to content writing and revisions, to posting of content.
  • Cross-team, the MCM works closely with the Product team to drive a valuable, leading-edge product voice strategy and supporting content plan for our audiences. We are committed to ensuring that MJ Freeway is a cannabis thought leader not a follower.

The MCM owns cannabis business content, brings every creative channel more closely integrated and working in synergy through content, is the consistent content creative director, and drives the communications as the industry landscape evolves for our consumers.

Responsibilities:

Brand development (10%) Working in collaboration with the product team and the product marketing manager, the MCM is responsible for contributing to the compelling, customer value-based vision and voice for MJ Freeway’s overarching brand, executive leadership, and ensures consistent brand-voice across products.

Strategic Content Planning (20%) The MCM develops a long-range strategic content plan that solidifies and expands MJ Freeway’s position as cannabis business thought leader. The MCM builds this plan with the goal of driving brand recognition, increase in brand perception scores, and lead increases. The MCM measures the plan effectiveness and adjusts accordingly based on defined measurement and goals. Adjustments would include changes in content type, frequency, and content channel. MCM would ensure that content plan meets budget goals and goals of audience engagement and lead generation.

Content development (70%) MCM creates content for MJ freeway audiences, including existing customers, potential customers, government officials, and cannabis business enthusiasts. The MCM develops content independently, with internal product and marketing team members, and with our creative agencies. Content includes:

  • White papers
  • Industry briefs
  • Social media posts
  • Blog posts
  • Webinars
  • Event agendas and scripts
  • Print and digital advertising
  • Press releases
  • And any emerging or paradigm-breaking content channels identified by MCM

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree with at least 5 years of experience building and executing content for brands and products
  • Strong experience leading a cross-functional team
  • Interest and experience in cannabis culture and/or small businesses
  • Experience in B2C or B2B brand management, marketing or promotional sales
  • Strong writer and ability to present complex information simply for various audiences
  • Multi-dimensional thinker
  • Strong leaning to strategy and innovation
  • Love for writing and communicating with various audiences
