The Manufacture Chemist Specialist will work closely with the Head of Manufacture and Extraction to process cannabis plant material into purified oil, edibles and others. This position will require accurate and timely recording and tracking of cannabis inventory throughout cultivation/processing/and distribution operations. Our ideal candidate will follow SOPs and GMP/Puerto Rico Department of Health guidelines and can work safely and effectively in a clean-room environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of extraction and manufacturing equipments.
  • Assist with the front-end processing of raw materials, including weighing, grinding, cleaning and general laboratory work.
  • Prepare workspace, equipment and materials daily.
  • Maintains and follow all laboratory and manufacturing methods, protocols and SOPs.
  • Maintains equipment calibration schedule and ensure that all required calibrations and maintenance are completed.
  • Keep Biocann leadership informed of all key quality findings and issues.
  • Documentation of all machine maintenance, logging test results, printing labels, auditing products and supplies.
  • Weigh and package finished products.
  • Work with all departments to coordinate workflow
  • Routine daily activities required to ensure plant maintenance and general operation of the manufacturing area.
  • Works with manufacture tracking and record keeping functions within the seed to sale electronic system in compliance with the rules and regulations.
  • Other duties include but are not limited to: packaging product for distribution, supports inventory management, as well as conducting general laboratory duties being creative and coming up with new research and development ideas.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor in Science, preferable in Chemistry or related sciences.
  • Professional with a background in Quality Control and Instrumentation Calibration Program for more than 8 years.
  • Pharmaceutical Laboratory work experience preferred.
  • Operations mindset as well as a team builder.
  • Knowledge in equipment calibration and preventive maintenance program.
  • Must adapt to industry best-practices and keep current on new techniques and insight with respect to manufacturing and extraction process.
  • Computer literacy experience preferred (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Knowledge adherence to Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Regulations
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Bilingual
  • No felony convictions.
  • Willing to participate in an extensive background check.
