Job Description:

Monterey Tilth is seeking a full-time lead cultivator! We are a bright and energetic cannabis cultivation company in the heart of the Salinas Valley. The ideal candidate would manage and optimize all the tasks in the grow including: cloning, transplanting, cropping and training, IPM regimen and nutrient regimen to ensure optimal plant healthy, vitality, and yields. The Lead Cultivator would work directly with the cultivation team, the post production team, and the general management team. Lead Cultivators operate under the highest standards of professionalism and compliancy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize a large-scale greenhouse cultivation facility
  • Assist in development of infrastructure to create ideal greenhouse environments
  • Develop and/or maintain greenhouse cultivation protocols and a nutrient regimen.
  • Lead and educate greenhouse cultivation facility team lead.
  • Perform all cultivation tracking and recordkeeping functions in compliance with California’s medical marijuana rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for training of entire cultivation team.
  • Work with Management team to adhere to plant scheduling and accurately project all garden requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to maximize high-quality yield with efficiency and attention to production costs.
  • Manage and execute of large scale commercial cultivation plans, including crop rotation management, nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, and environmental controls
  • Execute Integrated Pest Management System including elimination of all types of mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, root aphids, fungus gnats, etc.
  • Adept at industry best-practices and current on new techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Cannabis and knowledge of effects of strains.
  • Manage R&D to continually improve cultivation practice, including IPM, nutrients regimen, and strain selections.
  • Assist state and local government auditors and law enforcement with inventory, sales and compliance audits.
  • Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Mastery of soil health and irrigation methods.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Horticulture or related college degree is a plus.
  • Previous experience in cannabis is a must
  • Ability to stand, climb, squat, bend, twist, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Have high energy, self-motivation and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Team oriented.
  • Willing to work flexible and long hours during peak season, with weekends required.
  • Must have reliable transportation and good attendance.
