Job Summary – Laboratory Manager

Cascadia Labs has an immediate opportunity at our Redwood Valley laboratory located on our client’s scenic campus near Ukiah, CA. The Laboratory Manager will lead a team of top-notch, like-minded individuals who embrace and share in the same vision, core values and integrity of the science. This is a full-time, benefited position with competitive salary, commensurate with experience. The ideal candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm and after hours, including some weekends. The Laboratory Manager oversees all aspects of the laboratory, including personnel and day-to-day operations.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversight of analytical method development and validation
• Maintaining compliance with Health and Safety guidelines
• Oversight of laboratory purchasing
• Oversight of equipment maintenance
• Ensuring compliance with applicable standards
• Annual review and update of Quality Manual and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Supervision of laboratory personnel
• Hiring and training of personnel
• Coordinating appropriate department coverage and chain-of-command

Qualifications:

• Minimum: Bachelors in Analytical Chemistry or related field
• 5+ years lab experience using HPLC, GC, and Mass Spectrometry in a NELAC or ISO 17025 certified laboratory
• 2+ years experience managing employees in a laboratory setting
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in environmental analysis using GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS
• Experience with Agilent instrumentation and software — especially MassHunter
• Experience writing SOPs and method validation procedures
• Experience with LIMS integration, electronic notebooks, and general IT knowledge
• Experience performing pesticide residue analysis in foods, soil, or water
