Job Description:

CanMedLabs brings a clinical culture that fosters a personal commitment to sound science and service excellence to the cannabis industry. Founded in 2018, CanMedLabs was the first Licensed Cannabis Testing Laboratory in Irvine, CA. While providing services throughout Southern California, CanMedLabs is currently experiencing rapid expansion and growth.

We are expanding the team within our Irvine laboratory, and currently have openings for Laboratory Assistants.

All employment offers will be contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which must be clear to proceed.

Compensation commensurate with experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

General:

  • Cleaning laboratory equipment and glassware
  • General laboratory tidiness and upkeep
  • Transferring of materials through lab
  • Waste and by-product management
  • Support the laboratory through functions such as organizing, filing of laboratory records, retrieving test items from retention.
  • Temperature logs for lab environment, refrigerators, freezers, and incubators (as applicable)

Sample Intake/Accessioning:

  • Receive samples and verify appropriate receipt conditions, including weighing sample.
  • Enter the samples into the LIMS, including photo documentation of product
  • Complete all necessary intake forms

Sample Partitioning:

  • Prepares samples for prep and analysis in accordance with SOPs for:
  • Homogenizations
  • Extractions
  • Dilutions
  • Logging and weighing sample partitions for each type of analysis

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and the use of common laboratory apparatus
  • Skills: Read, write, and speak English, use LIMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google drive applications, Camera/Associated Software
  • Abilities: Follow written and verbal instructions; work effectively in a collaborative environment and effectively communicate with all coworkers and managers. Ability to display critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and one (1) year of practical experience

OR

  • Two (2) years of college coursework (preferably in a scientific discipline)
