Introduction:
International Cannabis Group, is a holding group which oversees multiple budding Startups focused on the synergy between Medical Cannabis, Hemp, Aromatics and Herbal medicine. We are currently seeking a qualified addition to our Lab who can assist and is eager to learn in all aspects of Product Formulation and production.
The successful candidate will support our Lead Scientist in a broad variety of functions including compounding, reaction or other processing and physical/chemical testing using lab or pilot equipment, and process development/double check feasibility of instruction. Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare personal care & cosmetic formulations following written formulas a Clean and sterilize instruments, glassware and equipment Including the following:
- Accurate measurement of chemical ingredients
- Operation and cleaning of mixing, blending, and milling equipment
- Documentation of manufacturing processes, both handwritten and electronic; Maintain detailed daily formulation records and raw material sampling records
- Set up equipment (including mixing vessel and homogenizer) used in making formulations
- Fill products in proper containers & label accordingly
Assist the Lead Scientist in the following (but not limited to):
- Product development and analysis of results
- Maintain quality data and records of all experimentation and relevant information.
- Create and maintain all of the necessary documentation in order to develop and commercialize the products (i.e. lab notebooks, specifications, technical test methods/data, etc).
- Evaluate and improve existing SOP’s (QA/QC, Production, Hygiene, etc.)
- Formulation of all types of products including but not limited to gels, creams, lotions, serums, beach products, sticks, sprays and balms.
- Assure that bulk batches, finished products, and raw materials meet the established sample specifications and quality standards and that sample documents are saved properly
- Shared responsibility for general laboratory organization and cleanliness. Shared responsibility for inventory and restocking of supplies for general laboratory needs
- Design, lead and analyze consumer research in order to actively translate consumer insights into innovative approaches from a formulation and/or communication standpoint
Education/Skills and Experience:
- The successful candidate will have BA/BS in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or any related scientific field of study with some lab experience working in a production laboratory (0-2 years)
- Strong knowledge base within chemistry and principles of formulating emulsion and suspension products. Working knowledge in physical testing and analytical methods
- Understanding of emulsion, polymers and surfactant technology, and general cosmetic technology as well as formulation techniques
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures. Specifically pH meter, Brookfield Viscometer, stand mixers, and Silverson homogenizers
- Must have good problem solving, decision making, and organization skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Problem solver with the ability to handle multiple and changing priorities in a fast paced, dynamic organization
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Experience and knowledge in health & nutrition, natural ingredients, and current food trends. Pet food or supplement experience is a plus
- Due to the proprietary Nature of our work, Applicant must be willing to sign an NDA and non-compete agreement upon hire.
