Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Lab Technician will aid with the production of high quality cannabis concentrates along with cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment, recording and entering data and associated tasks. The lab tech will handle the consistent, sanitary, and safe production of cannabis concentrates using company policies to successfully uphold the quality and consistency of all products produced. The individual has the responsibility of extracting, winterizing, isolating, and purifying cannabinoids using various distillation and purification techniques.

Essential/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Regular communication with management is to be kept to ensure all operational needs are met and any procedural problems are addressed and resolved proactively.
  • Responsible for using various methods to process cannabis into high quality cannabis oil.
  • This includes, but is not limited to techniques involving winterization, filtration, extraction, separation, and distillation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, run and tend to equipment and various instruments according to SOPs.
  • Physically run the system and perform extractions and distillations.
  • Accurately measure and weigh ingredients and be familiar with using and balancing scales.
  • Perform all necessary equipment maintenance and safety checks per manufacturer specifications.
  • Monitor equipment to detect possible malfunctions, such as leaks or fractures and report malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Ensure that the production space is organized, clean and sanitary throughout daily operations.
  • Log and track all pertinent information for each responsibility.
  • Use Biotrack THC to be able to create and modify products for a variety of purposes.
  • Use critical thinking and deductive reasoning to identify and analyze problems and find creative solutions.
  • Work collectively with other team members to come up with novel ideas and techniques to improve current processes.
  • Stay up to date with cutting edge extraction, purification and distillation techniques.
  • Exercise extreme caution and attention to detail around the scientific glassware to prevent breakage.
  • Follow all safety protocols for machine operation at all times.
  • Fully comply with NM DOH regulations at all times.
  • Perform other official and clerical duties as assigned.

Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • Associates Degree in related field
  • Currently enrolled in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering or related field.
  • HIPPA Certification.
  • Food Handler Certificate
