Lab Manager

Job Duties:

Train lab technicians and assistants on the correct use of lab equipment, in addition to mentoring and disciplining lab staff. Monitor and supervise employees to follow industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing of test samples. Establishes lab procedures, creates and manages lab relation documentation and organizes laboratory activities.

Schedule lab or equipment use time for staff. Monitor and review lab supplies and preparing ordering lists. Handle security documents and ensure that all information and data collected in the lab is kept safe.

Monitor testing equipment and request service/preventive maintenance as required.

Ensure timely completion of service requests.

Skills:

• A minimum of 5 years of lab experience with progressive experience in management with multiple direct reports.
• Innate ability to make sound, independent decisions based on functional expertise and experience.
• Ability to administer a proactive management approach with a keen sense of attention to detail.
• Strong ability to provide leadership, support, communication and direction to lab technicians, as well as other personnel.
• Highly experienced in handling multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously working with multi-disciplinary teams from lab techs to senior and executive management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word with the ability to summarize work succinctly for reporting to clients and management.

Education and Experience:

Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or Life Sciences or a M.S. degree in Chemistry or Life Sciences with 2+ years of experience in a research or industrial laboratory setting
