SUMMARY
The Laboratory Manager supervises and oversees the activities personnel in the Laboratory. This person will coordinate will all areas of the laboratory to ensure that quality results are produced. The Laboratory Manager participates in the interviewing, hiring, evaluation, and discipline of laboratory personnel; schedules and assigns work and sets work priorities as needed; assists in developing and facilitating orientation and training for new employees and acts for the lab personnel during their absence.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Overseeing and directing the scientific methods of the laboratory
- Ensuring that the laboratory achieves and maintains quality standards of practice
- Providing ongoing and appropriate training to laboratory employees
- Review and verify test results prior to reporting
- Effectively troubleshoot and perform equipment tuning and maintenance, and analysis of data used for laboratory quality control with instruments such as HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS/MS, and ICP-MS
- Ensure routine testing submitted by clients is completed within turnaround time and quality-of-work expectations
- Assist in the maintaining of lab inventory and ordering of materials
- Participate in the preparation/review process for laboratory SOPs and forms/worksheets
- Perform related duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be comfortable working with cannabis and cannabis products
- A doctoral degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related science from an accredited college or university
- A master’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related science from an accredited college or university and have at least 2 years of full-time practical experience
- A bachelor’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related science from an accredited college or university and have at least 4 years of full-time practical experience
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab preferred
- Experience with instruments such as HPLC, GC/MS, LC/MS/MS, and ICP-MS
- Experience with testing cannabinoid potency, pesticide residues, residual solvents, heavy metals, water activity, and mycotoxins preferred
