Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to be all inclusive)


  • Collaborates with team and shift leads to implement organic IPM strategies.
  • Performs weekly pest and disease scouting.
  • Reports and monitors pest and disease management tasks to shift & team leads.
  • Administers responsible application of organic IPM methods.
  • Ensures compliance with the organization’s comprehensive organic IPM strategy including; bio-controls, beneficial insects, natural predators, trapping, and spraying.
  • Adheres to organic IPM site safety compliance and safe organic IPM management and schedules.
  • Communicate quality issues to shift and team leads.
  • Performs experimental organic IPM trials; soil, water, and plant tissue sampling.
  • Scouts all equipment, ensuring all tools are free of pests, viruses or disease; daily IPM equipment maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to be flexible and work in various sectors of the department as needed an/or requested by their direct supervisor; this may include but is not limited to, helping grow staff with small tasks, cleaning and/or moving supplies and equipment and/or helping the packaging department or working at other locations as needed.
  • Must work well with others and ability to adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure, methods and technique. Frequent contact with supervisor via face-to-face discussions.
  • Use of independent judgment regarding product processing, keeping quality, projections and goals in mind.
  • Help create a proactive and positive environment; a positive attitude and self-motivation to help produce high quality manicured product, while meeting and/or exceeding personal and/or company goals.

  • Must manage their time during work efficiently to meet goals while consistently producing quality product.
  • Employee must be able to follow basic instructions and ability to take constructive criticism from their managers to maintain quality standards and production goals.

  • Demonstrate accurately and thoroughly in a timely manner to meet quality production standards

  • Exhibit personal hygiene and follow the health guidelines set forth by the company and the state while processing patient medicine.
  • Must understand and implement the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company and the department.
  • Basic understanding of the cannabis laws, rules and regulations set forth by the state; a pursuit to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Regularly required to perform carrying, grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 50 lbs. (100 lbs. with assistance) and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and product.
  • Must not be allergic to or have a fear of insects.
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced medical cannabis grow location.

WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Work is performed inside greenhouse facilities exposed to temperatures ranging above a constant 75°F.
  • Work is subject to weather conditions, including rain and extreme hot or cold temperatures.
  • May require working rotating shifts with varied hours/day, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Periodic travel may be required for training purposes or purchasing materials and equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


  • Bachelors in agriculture, entomology is highly desired;
  • A minimum of 2 years with organic pest and disease control and management is required, preferably in an agricultural environment
  • Must be familiar with various controls including, biological, cultural, mechanical & physical controls, chemical control
  • A minimum of 1 year processing medical cannabis or other botanicals highly desired
  • Continuing education to maintain certification and/or further career development will be required
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age per state regulations and pass a criminal background check


CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED

  • Pest control advisor (PCA) certification, qualified applicator license or certification (QAL/QAC) is required
