Job Description:

Under general supervision, performs inspections of Illinois Medical Marijuana Cultivation Centers and Illinois Medical Marijuana Dispensing Organizations. Performs responsible research and investigative law enforcement work as a member of the Illinois State Police regarding enforcement of state laws relating to the State Medical Cannabis Pilot Program. Assists higher level investigators and participates in investigations involving diversion, financial exploitation, and other crimes perpetrated against the Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act, Illinois Cultivation Centers, and Illinois Dispensing Organizations by providing routine documentary evidence for use in prosecutable actions.
Minimum Requirements: Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of college with coursework in law, government, liberal arts, history or business administration, plus three years experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field; or requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with course work in law, government, liberal arts, history, or business or public administration, plus one year of professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field; or requires completion of the FBI National Academy or comparable law enforcement schooling.

Requires working knowledge of moderate law enforcement investigatory techniques and concepts. Requires working knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of state agencies. Requires working knowledge of Illinois State Statutes, rules, and regulations concerning conflicts of interest or malfeasance of office. Requires ability to recognize and gather appropriate statements, exhibits, and materials acceptable for use in prosecution of cases or disciplinary action. Requires ability to maintain security during investigatory activities. Requires ability to prepare case reports for referral to prosecuting agency. Prefer familiarity with the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Programs. Prefers the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals. Requires a valid driver's license and have ability to travel, some overnight travel.
