JOB DESCRIPTION

The Infusions Manager will oversee the operation of the Marijuana Infused Products (MIP) department at Sira Naturals, Inc. and will help drive both production and research and development (R&D) of our delicious portfolio of MIPs. This is a “working manager” role and the incumbent will be expected to lead by example and make/prepare products as well as develop product specifications, recipes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support the kitchen and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both new product development and low-to-medium volume production of candy and confections. We need someone with the ability to troubleshoot in a systematic way, using scientific method and controls to create repeatable, consistent results. Lastly, we are looking for someone to help create and perfect recipes and formulations for other marijuana-infused products such as: tinctures, balms, sprays, pills, sublingual strips, drinks, and topicals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain up-to-date MIP offerings to match needs and trends in the patient community and Sira Natural’s customer base with a strong focus on candies and confectionary food products
  • Ensure homogeneity/proper incorporation of medicinal extracts into MIPs through correct formulation and process scale up
  • Coordinate with the executive team to ensure that all operations are fully compliant with 105.CMR.725 and all other applicable regulations and requirements with a strong focus on food safety
  • Day-to-day management of MIP production area and team including:
  • - Daily production scheduling and execution to plan
  • - Staffing and capacity planning
  • - Creation and maintenance of product specification documents, HACCP plans, procedures, recipes, and formulations for creation of edible and other marijuana-infused products to be produced by Sira Naturals, Inc.
  • - Interview and recommend for hire any potential job candidates for Infused Products department staff
  • - Oversee training of all new MIP production staff and re-training of current staff on an as-needed basis
  • - Coordination with Retail, Extraction and Cultivation departments to ensure proper inventory flow and fullest availability of products to patient community
  • Regularly audit MIP inventory utilizing seed-to-sale tracking software and report any inventory discrepancies that arise
  • Ensure full compliance with inventory control protocols and procedures
  • Work with certified laboratories to ensure proper testing of all products

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting, standing and walking motion/movement will be required
  • Lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds may be required
  • Work in a commercial kitchen environment will be required (proximity to dairy, wheat, heat, humidity, etc.)

“MUST HAVE” QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of commercial food production experience from bench to scale up with candy and confections foods including hard candy, caramels, chocolates, cookies, brownies and other similar treats
  • Managerial experience in a commercial kitchen or food production environment
  • Possess a valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background check, per MDPH Rules and Regulations

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience infusing foods and other products (strongly desired)
  • Experience with emulsification of food products
  • Familiarity with HACCP standards
  • Familiarity with ERP/Inventory Control Software
  • Experience working with regulated substances in a high-oversight environment
  • Familiarity with 935 CMR 500 (MA Adult Use of Marijuana Regulations)
  • Familiarity with 105 CMR 725 (MA Medical Marijuana Regulations)
  • Familiarity with 105 CMR 300 (MA Health Regulations)
  • Familiarity with 105 CMR 500 (MA Sanitation Regulations)
