Wellness Connection of Maine (WCM) is seeking a Human Resource Manager to join their growing team. We are a full spectrum wellness center, committed to fostering education and support for medical cannabis patients throughout the state and beyond.

Responsibilities will include:
Employee Relations:
- Provide accurate, timely guidance to Team Leaders and Team Members on problems originating from work situations.
- Counsel management and employees on grievances and complaints and take appropriate steps to ensure that all such problems are resolved .
- Ensure that personnel policies as well as other related policies and procedures are kept current in coordination with other departments and be able to analyze these policies and make recommendations accordingly
- Handle all employee performance reviews, progressive disciplinary policies, employee separation documentation and exit interviews.
- 50% of the time will consist of travelling to various locations to meet face to face with staff, managers etc.
Recruiting, Orientation and Training:
- Assist in the hiring and placement of employees including conducting new employee orientation and hiring, Team Member training and Sexual Harassment Training.
- Coordinate Team Leader training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment and management development.
Human Resource Administration:
- Consult on benefits programs such as health, dental, and disability insurances, vacation, sick leave and leave of absence, and employee assistance.
- Advise Senior Management and Team Leaders regarding Human Resources compliance related to State and Federal Regulation.
- Represent WCM at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Maintain personnel transactions and files such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Investigates accidents, creates First Report for insurance carrier and manages all aspects of Worker’s Compensation claims and work with Safety committee and Team Leaders to develop appropriate light duty positions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, organizational development or related field.
- 8 years of solid human resources generalist management experience required.
- PHR or SPHR certification desired.
- Must possess a high level of integrity and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential issues.
- Must have a clean, valid drivers license and reliable transportation – requires travel 50% of the time.
- Solid problem solving, business acumen, influence and negotiation skills.
- Superior organizational, project management, time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Superior communication skills to include listening, verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to travel to multiple locations across the state of Maine.
- Must be available to work some weekends.
- Must pass a drug test and background check (state mandated)
