Position: Human Resources Director

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Job Overview

Have a Heart is a cannabis retailer in Seattle, Washington and we are seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to build and lead our HR Department. The company is entering a phase of rapid growth, and we need an exceptional individual who can build upon the existing HR functions of a large retailer with more than 150 employees, while scaling said functions to match projected growth. The HR Director will execute the human resources components of the company’s core values and mission statement by planning and managing human resources programs and directing staff recruitment, training and counseling. The Human Resources Director will also play a key advisory role in organizational strategy as the company adapts to new challenges in the industry. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years’ experience in an HR role and experience leading diverse teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supports management by providing human resources direction, advice and counsel
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members through the process of understanding the needs and responsibilities of human resources within a large retailer
  • Understanding of cultural norms, traditions, and working with diverse teams
  • Guides management and employee actions by developing HR guidelines, communicating the guidelines and enforcing organization values
  • Leads company’s compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Capable of executing HR functions in a constantly changing regulatory environment with complex and changing rules set by state, county and municipal authorities.
  • Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits
  • Ability to work closely with counterparts to limit workplace issues due to the diverse nature of our industry
  • Establishes and maintains company records and reports; able to direct others in the organization and adherence to record-keeping guidelines
  • Maintains company organization charts and employee directory

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters’ preferred.
  • Seven or more years of HR experience required.
  • Current or previous experience in an HR Manager or Director role in a large (200+ employee) company preferably in a retail environment.
  • PHR/SPHR preferred.
  • Multi-lingual candidate preferred.
  • Experience working in a national company highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working with labor unions and collective bargaining units highly desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70.00 to $80.00 /year
