Horticulture/Cultivation Instructor
Duties:
- Instruct Introduction to Horticulture, Cannabis Cultivation, and Commercial Cultivation Operations.
- Grade assignments, exams and utilize Moodle/Learning Management Software.
- Scan and send all assignments and exams to the Lead Horticulture Instructor/Director of Faculty.
- Take attendance and ensure the right students are in the correct course.
- Prepare for lecture by reading materials, finding videos to present during lecture, and review all curriculum before lecture. Curriculum sometimes needs revisions, as well.
- Communicate with students and provide feedback when needed.
This is initially a contract position, with the possibility of becoming permanent full-time employment.
As a contractor, compensation varies depending on what classes you teach and when. Monday-Friday classes run 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 55 minutes long. Weekend classes generally run from 9-5.
Qualifications:
- Teaching, training, or lecturing experience preferred.
- 1-5 years working in a horticulture/cultivation setting preferred. Experience in a regulated commercial cannabis setting is a major plus.
- Cannabis knowledge preferred.
- Knowledge of plant diseases, insects, fungi, and biological treatments. Knowledge of large and small-scale plant grows including fertility programs, technology, mediums, lighting, temperature, humidity, organic and synthetic growing techniques. 5s Lean Production.
- Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Learning Management Software like Moodle, or Schoology.
Education Requirements:
Associates degree or higher required, preferably in Horticulture, or other plant science related fields. Those with education degrees and relevant horticulture/plant science work experience will also be considered. Bachelors or higher preferred.
