Head Grower Position

We Grow Dreams Greenhouse & Garden Center is a year-round business supplying a variety of annual and perennial plants, vegetables, herbs and houseplants available for wholesale and retail purchases, as well as potted plants and hanging baskets. Our unique job training program provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to learn a variety of tasks in the day-to-day operation of a wholesale and retail greenhouse business.

Summary of Position: We Grow Dreams is looking to hire an energetic, passionate and motivated Grower for our West Chicago Facility. As a seasonal employee you will be responsible for:

• Management of fertilization, chemical applications, environmental controls and cultural care of crops.
• Growing plants according to our grow plans and plant specifications.
• Early detection of crop issues and proactively providing solutions.
• Ensuring that crops are finished by expected ready dates.
• Clear and timely communication with both employees and supervisors.
• Responsible for overseeing duties of the assigned waterers.
• Upkeep and trouble shooting of all grower supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on all greenhouses and structures.

Job Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A degree in Horticulture and/or two plus years of greenhouse growing experience.
• Experience with annuals and greenhouse crop production.
• Knowledge of PGR's, chemicals and fertilizers.
• Passion for growing and self motivated to learn.
• IL Pesticide license required
• Flexible hours must be able to work weekends as needed.

Job Type: Hours 7am-3pm Daily, some weekends required. This is a seasonal hire.

Required Experience: Associate or equivalent growing experience at least 2 years.

Required license or certification: Driver's License & IL Pesticide license required

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20,000.00 to $30,000.00 /year
