Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to be all inclusive)

  • Harvest Management
    • Maintain and create an up-to-date Pre and Post-Harvest schedule and production plan that is used daily to prioritize and guide current batches through the process.
    • Coordinates resources to ensure appropriate supplies are available.
    • Monitor and develop processes to increase harvest efficiency.
    • Establish benchmarks and efficiencies for key work areas.
    • Establish and maintain sanitation practices for staff, equipment and facilities.
    • Record and track finished product in accordance with strict regulatory requirements.
    • Maintains strict inventory records of all plant materials used and documents production information.
    • Completes Post and Pre-harvest score cards for management and executive team, ensures he/her performs a walkthrough of harvest at least one week in advance.
    • Coordinates with house lead to ensure house zone is reset on schedule and is ready for the next planting.
    • Oversees the transportation of harvest to the dry/cure area and positions racks per the processing manager specifications.
    • Oversees the turnaround of the room; Coordinates with Bio Systems control manager and assists sanitation of zones and substrate recycling as needed.
    • Assists processing manager during the initial dry stage of harvest product.
    • Monitor all equipment in coordination with Maintenance Manager to define and perform maintenance schedule and arrange repairs as necessary.

  • Manage and direct the daily activities of assigned staff and functions including:
    • Ensures harvest team is appropriately staffed; provide necessary training, training manuals, and standard operating procedures.
    • Schedules and supervise the harvest staff based on harvest and turnaround needs.
    • Monitor progress based on established schedules for cultivation production.
    • Ensures work location meets Cal-OSHA regulation requirements and ensures team members are trained on safety precautions.
    • Exercise significant authority and discretion when addressing items that concern the grow location, including:
      • Participate in developing and implementing rules, regulations, policies and procedures to advance the company’s mission, vision, goals and objectives.
      • Completes 90-day and annual reviews for staff and is a coaching voice to staff; counsels and follows disciplinary procedures when needed.
      • Recommends hiring, performance, discipline, termination or advancement of employees.

  • Adhere to company mission statement, while maintaining high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in various sectors of the department as needed and/or requested by their direct supervisor; this may include but is not limited to, helping grow staff with small tasks, cleaning and/or moving supplies and equipment and/or helping the packaging department or working at other locations as needed.
  • Must work well with others and ability to adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure, methods and technique. Frequent contact with supervisor via face-to- face discussions
  • Use of independent judgment in regard to product processing/harvesting, keeping quality, projections and goals in mind.
  • Help create a proactive and positive environment; a positive attitude and self-motivation to help produce high quality manicured product, while meeting and/or exceeding personal and/or company goals.
  • Ability to work with, help, guide, challenge and motivate other team members to create a cohesive unit.
  • Employee must be able to identify various problems with any strain/product and communicate with direct supervisors as necessary.
  • Must manage their time during work efficiently to meet goals while consistently producing quality product.
  • Employee must be able to follow basic instructions and ability to take constructive criticism from their managers to maintain quality standards and production goals.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Must understand and implement the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company.
  • Advanced cannabis cultivation experience, including cure, trim and packaging.
  • Should have a basic understanding of cannabis laws, rules and regulations set forth by the state; a pursuit to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws is appreciated and commendable.
  • Fundamental knowledge, as well as the ability to be taught and guided in areas related to office operations.
  • Skill in analyzing issues, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of goals.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, assigning and coordinating the activities and resources of professional and technical staff.
  • Shows self-motivation/innovation and the ability to work well with all members of their staff and the company, as well as with their direct supervisor.
  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively various audiences, especially with the direct supervisors and other co-workers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees, upper management, and other departments.
  • Ability to:
    • Interpret, understand and comply with complex statutes, ordinances, federal, state and local laws, standard and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
    • Analyze and evaluate information accurately, and to express ideas clearly when providing oral and written reports or recommendations on administrative, financial and technical issues.
    • Use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, data base management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, customers, other governmental agencies, community members and the public.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is generally performed in both a processing and office-type setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform frequent grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, speaking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motion. Close vision at 20 inches or less. Manual dexterity to reach/handle items, works with fingers.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 35 pounds (70 pounds

  • Work is generally performed in a fast-paced cannabis grow location

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a cannabis production environment is highly desired; high school diploma, GED or equivalent is preferred.
  • Quality assurance, quality control with good manufacturing practices (GMP)
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Three – five years of proven nursery processing, harvesting, cultivation or similar experience.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age per state regulations and pass a criminal background Check.

CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • A valid driver’s license and be insurable.
