Utopian Plants has locations in Kansas and Indiana and is optimally located for specializing in hardy, local container plant production. Utopian Plants provides the DCA distribution brands with perennials, grasses, shrubs and groundcover.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Grower to lead our Kansas production site. The right applicant for this role leads their team with a proactive, take charge approach. You will excel in this independent role and utilize your competitive nature to attain the goals that are set before you. The successful Grower is self-sufficient, able to delegate to a team of ten plus, and follow up on assigned duties for completion and accuracy. Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Production and nursery maintenance of all plant material, to include creation of plant fertility and pest management (IPM) plans as well as organization and oversight of pruning, fertilization, and watering/irrigation activities of all crops.
• Management of site production staff including hiring and development of key individuals for your team, determine daily work assignments to assure maximization of labor, productivity, and efficiencies, and provide leadership for health and safety programs.
• Work closely with the Director of Operations on development of a space utilization plan for crops, ensure inventory is maintained at a high level of accuracy.

Required Experience

• 3-5 years of experience growing in the nursery industry required
• Bi-lingual Spanish ability strongly preferred
• Certified Pesticide Applicator License preferred
