Itasca Greenhouse is a grower of top-quality containerized evergreen tree seedlings, deciduous tree and shrub liners and Christmas tree stock. We also have an offshoot that provides live seedlings for promotional products, celebration favors and memorials. We are looking for a highly organized and passionate person to be in charge of the growing operations of the greenhouse. Duties will encompass working with the general manager to coordinate all aspects of the growing cycle from seed to finished product. This includes maintaining seed inventory; stratifying seed; performing germination tests; seeding the greenhouse; managing watering, chemical application and fertilizing; performing inventory counts and coordinating with office manager on inventory; coordinating harvest and shipping; and all record-keeping associated with these duties.
Itasca Greenhouse is in the process of modernizing and moving the company into the future. The ideal candidate for the job is someone who is innovative and eager to try new ideas. The grower will be expected to work well with the owners and team members, but also be able to be self-directed.
Weekend rotation and on-call time for greenhouse temperature alarms after hours is required. Travel to trade shows and other industry events will be required on occasion. Experience is preferred, but will train the right candidate. Pay will be based on experience and education.
