CANNABIS STORE SEEKING GENERAL MANAGER

General Description:

A Cannabis Company in Spokane, WA is currently looking for a General Manager to join our team! We currently operate two dispensaries in Spokane County and are ranked among the top 10% highest grossing retailers in the state of Washington. We achieved $10M in revenue last year and are on track to reach $20M in 2018. The General Manager would play a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations at both retail stores, as well as providing support to the CEO and COO. To be effective in this fast-paced retail environment, the candidate must have incredible organizational skills, attention to detail, and an innate commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate has prior management experience and is a regular consumer of the product. Candidate must be comfortable and familiar with cannabis at a minimum.

Role Responsibilities:

Retail:

  • Sets direction and team expectations for the Retail Operations team. Coordinates and communicates operational, retail and merchandise functions.
  • Develops and executes plans to maximize capacity and sales at peak times, and delivers a seamless experience by providing fast and efficient guest circulation throughout all retail spaces.
  • Executes plan to drive labor productivity while delivering best-in-class customer service.
  • Responsible for monitoring inventory levels to keep “out-of-stocks” to minimum. * Manages over 40 retail operations employees.

Financial:

  • Directly responsible for retail sales annually ($20M plus)
  • Develops programs to meet sales and income goals and reports on key metrics (sales, productivity, etc.) that drive the business.
  • Use insights/data to make sound business decisions * Leverages these metrics to maintain pricing, margins, labor costs and related expenses to meet profitability objectives.
  • Responsible for financial and business planning components, including sales and expense planning; part-time labor planning; and monitoring progress against planned targets.

Store Manager-on-Duty (MOD):

  • Deliver a high level of consumer engagement and meet sales goals while maintaining and elevating brand reputation.
  • MOD is responsible for overall satisfaction, safety and security of all customers and employees.
  • MOD is also responsible for ensuring adequate staffing to meet the needs of the business; this includes adjusting schedules to ensure appropriate coverage within budget and monitoring employee performance.
  • MOD monitors guest volume and flow throughout the facility and ensures a maximized guest experience; this includes making critical decisions about line management; parking lot operations; and redeployment of staff to manage business peaks and valleys.
  • MOD monitors employees to ensure excellent customer service.

Travel: This position may require light travel between 3 locations in Spokane County, less than 20 miles apart.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or relevant field
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Ability to work 45-50 hours a week
  • Maintains a high level of customer service
  • Demonstrates excellence in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop associates at all levels
  • Understanding of scheduling concepts and maintaining schedules
  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Ability to make independent decisions and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be comfortable discussing recreational marijuana
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Management, or relevant field
  • Understanding of basic fundamentals of operational management
  • Understanding of budget concepts and ability to manage budgets accordingly
