Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer the General Manager of Kush Bottles Inc. newly acquired operating division Summit Innovations is responsible for overall operations and financial performance of the business unit. The division sells industrial gases, chemical solvents and other supplies used in the extraction and processing segment of the rapidly developing national cannabis market. The General Manager will be a member of the Kush Bottles Inc. Leadership Team responsible for driving the overall strategy of the company.

Location & Travel

The role will be based in Denver, CO. It is anticipated that the role will require travel of up to 50% given the national footprint of the business and related business expansion.

Examples of Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Implement or oversee environmental management or sustainability programs addressing issues such as recycling, conservation, or waste management
  • Recommend locations for new facilities or oversee the remodeling or renovating of current facilities.
  • Review financial statements, sales or activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.
  • Manage the movement of goods into and out of production facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations
  • Set prices or credit terms for goods or services based on forecasts of customer demand.
  • Monitor suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.
  • Responsible for planning and adhering to hydrocarbons budget
  • Manage Dept of Transportation HAZMAT compliance protocols and procedures
  • Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.
  • Manage storage partnerships and strategic expansion opportunities
  • Manage warehouse inventory targets and key vendors
  • Interface with sales team leads re: pricing optimization
  • Pursue R&D opportunities based on market feedback
  • Ensure purity/quality control of products
  • Analyze cost structure and identify efficiency savings
  • Oversee capital improvement building
  • Create standard operating procedures
  • Establish a culture of respect and passion for exceptional customer service

Qualifications Guidelines

Education/training/experience:

Bachelor's degree in business management, chemical engineering, logistics or related field is preferred. MBA or advanced degree in a related field is highly encouraged. Must have a minimum of 5 years in management capacity or increasing authority within autonomous business units.

  • Propane distribution or gas/welding supply background a plus
  • Or, experience in the cannabis extraction industry and knowledge of hydrocarbon chemistry
  • Hazmat compliance experience and propane handling certifications preferred

Knowledge of:

Basic principles of hazardous material handling, understanding material safety data sheets, hydrocarbon chemistry, financial literacy, marketing, regulatory compliance, logistics, distribution and labor relations.

Ability to:

  • Assure performance in accordance with short- and long-range plans of the division for those items within the sphere of influence.
  • Ability to manage a team in accomplishing challenging program and business growth goals.
  • Ability to formulate and plan the expenditure of appropriate bids and proposals and internal research and development resources to grow the business and manage risks on programs.
  • Maintain positive, productive attitude with peers and department managers while adjusting to changing schedules and position requirements.
  • Manage controversial situations across lines of authority at all levels.
  • Effectively direct, manage and motivate personnel at all levels.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including: MS Office Excel, Word and Power Point.

Physical Standards:

  • This position requires frequently sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling/grasping of materials in manufacturing.
  • This position may rarely require kneeling, bending, squatting.
  • Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key.
  • Able to periodically participate in the inspection of company machinery and operations.
  • Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
