SC Laboratories is the leader in quality assurance and regulatory compliance testing for the cannabis industry. Founded in 2010, SC Labs is a rapidly growing analytical laboratory that performs a variety of assays for this rapidly growing sector. With facilities in California as well as Tigard, Oregon, SC Labs continues to experience rapid expansion.
We are seeking to add on to our collaborative team environment within our Santa Cruz laboratory, and currently have an open position for a GC-MS Analyst.
Must be comfortable working with and around cannabis products. All employment offers will be contingent upon successful completion of a full background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
- Understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Quality Manual, SOPs, and Methods
- Adhere to appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025 and company requirements relevant to assigned duties
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to assigned analytical work; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment
- Maintain a neat and accurate record system; keep accurate records of work performed on a daily basis and as needed for quality control tests or regulatory purposes using both physical copies and electronic
- Routine laboratory tasks such as cleaning glassware and maintaining chemical inventory/ordering supplies as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Familiarity and proficiency with maintenance of Gas Chromatographs coupled to Mass Spectrometers (GC-MS)
- Proficient in the analysis of data produced by GC-MS
- GC-MS method development experience a plus
- Experience in sample preparation for GC-MS analysis
- Experience with pesticide residue analysis a plus
- Experience with single quadrupole mass spectrometers
- Experience with tandem mass spectrometers a plus
- Experience with headspace autosamplers a plus
- Experience with residual solvent analysis a plus
- Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Proficient in the use of basic laboratory hardware such as balances, syringes, and pipettes
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Responsive problem solver and action oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel data manipulation
- A strong mechanical aptitude
- Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Have completed 2 years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university and 3 years full-time practical experience.
OR
- Earned a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university.
