Our client, an established start-up in product development for the natural products market seeks an experienced Flavor Chemist to lead a team focused on creating and driving innovation of flavors.

Position Details:
The Flavor Chemist will work lead a team focused on creating and driving innovation of flavors. This is a high technical position that will require the strictest attention to detail while fostering a vast sense of creativity to achieve the best results for clients.
Create, develop and match new and/or existing flavors from scratch, using essential oils, aromatic chemicals, extracts and any other flavor raw materials available in the industry, based on defined client needs or as possible proprietary products, with minimal direction, instructions and supervision.
Maintain, upgrade and organize existing library of raw materials on a regular basis by keeping up-to-date on new materials available in the industry and regularly ordering samples to expand library.
Perform shelf life studies and stability testing when needed.
Apply analytical understanding and techniques for flavor evaluations.
Interpret results and provide input to Chemistry team.
Work closely with Flavor Suppliers to translate new compounds into finished flavor systems.
Provide input on laboratory processes and improvements.
Perform sensory evaluation on flavors and finished goods.
Schedule and lead team sensory evaluations and be able to translate results into client friendly terminology.
Work to develop database of flavor and ingredient analysis.
Make recommendations on flavors.
Schedule and participate regularly in the tasting of flavors for sensory evaluation.
Source materials and flavor samples.
Demonstrate a true dedication to the company and their role within the organization.
Experience Profile:
BS or MS in Chemistry or Food Science/Technology with 5+ years of flavor creation experience.
Proficiency in the operation of GC/MS analysis to assist in the creation and matching flavors.
Full working knowledge of all flavor raw materials, flavor chemistry, creation and composition.
Ability to calculate the exact proportion of flavor components needed to accomplish specific flavor characteristics.
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions. Able to compute ratios and percentages.
Demonstrate key decision making abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
Proficiency in collecting and researching data.
Proficiency in designing work flows and procedures.
Experience developing project plans and coordinating projects.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Stable record of direct employment.
Helpful/Preferred::
MS degree in Chemistry or Food Science/Technology.
Experience in the cannabis or pharmaceutical space.
Full certification by The Society of Flavor Chemists.
