Field Archaeologist

Title: Archaeology Crew Chie f- SE New Mexico

Location: SE New Mexico

Minimum Experience : 6 years

Espinoza Consulting Services (ECS) has an opening for TWO Archaeological Crew Chiefs to support operations in Southeast New Mexico. This is a full-time seasonal position. Candidate MUST have experience in the Southwest and specifically SE New Mexico and a Bachelors' Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field of study AND permitable in BLM SE Region . Travel is a requirement of employment and per diem is provided. Permitability in New Mexico BLM SE is mandatory.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related degree AND 6 years of field experience that includes 3 years of field experience in Southwest.
• Experience directing crews and managing projects and project budgets.
• Good understanding of how to apply BLM cultural resource regulations.
• Able to perform and direct the duties of technician (walk up to 10 miles a day; lift up to 40 lbs; identify historic and prehistoric artifacts correctly; conduct archaeological survey and testing; complete sketch maps of features and sites; complete field forms accurately and concisely; use a GPS unit; and photograph resources).
• Be able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).
• Good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
• Must have a clean driver’s license. Employment is also subject to drug and alcohol testing.
