Position Overview:

Extraction Technicians at Claywolf are responsible for the general day-to-day tasks of blasting raw material. This position requires clear communication and teamwork to accomplish tasks at an efficient level. Extraction technicians run, maintain, clean and oversee all extraction equipment while performing the basic monitoring and reporting tasks required. All extraction technicians enter the company as Level I, upon completion of the 90-day grace period, advancement is possible.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Extraction, COO and General Manager

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

General Duties (Not Exhaustive of all Duties)

  • Perform all needed daily tasks of extraction from product pre-prep to extraction and post-processing.
  • Work toward meeting department goals around efficiencies and yields.
  • Ability to operate and control all equipment in a laboratory-type environment.
  • Ensure consistency and efficacy of product through quality control testing and procedures.
  • Perform all duties required to ensure a clean and safe production facility.
  • Creation of all batch production records and labels in accordance with State and local standards.
  • Creation of all batch production records and labels in accordance with Claywolf Extracts SOPs and systems.
  • Work with local, State-approved laboratories in tandem with the Packaging Manager to perform regular and required testing of extracted product.
  • Document all lab results necessary for State regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications of Claywolf.
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory safety audits.
  • Assist in proper recording of raw material inventory.

Daily Tasks: (Not Exhaustive of all Tasks)

  • Perform METRC duties in tandem with the Packaging Manager and other Managers of Claywolf.
  • Organize raw material bins in the logical and systematic process of Claywolf Extracts.
  • Implement the blend selection of raw material as determined by the Director of Extraction and COO.
  • Manage troubleshooting of:
  • Equipment
  • Ovens
  • Material flaws * Implement remediation of product and fixing product flaws as designated by the Director and COO.
  • Perform extraction of all white-labeled products for raw material suppliers.
  • Ensure proper handling of all volatile substances:
  • Dry ice
  • Butane
  • Propane
  • Compressed Argon
  • CO2
  • Compressed Nitrogen
  • Ethanol
  • Isopropanol
  • Volatile Terpenes * Compliant disposal of post-extracted material.
  • Turn on chillers and perform daily machine startup procedures.
  • Flip all extractions, manage residual solvents removal.
  • Perform extractions and ensure schedule adherence.
  • Oversee the art of slab management.
  • Oversee nucleation of extracted product.

Collaboration:

  • Keep office area tidy to maintain a functional work environment.
  • Work with team members to develop, learn, and implement new systems.
  • Assist the Sales Manager, other Blaster Technician, General Administrative Manager and the Packaging Manager with all interdepartmental policies and activities.

Technology and Other Requirements:

  • Computer: Highly functional on a modern, PC. Equipment will be provided.
  • Microsoft Office: Proficient in Word and Excel, 2010 or newer.
  • Typing: 50 WPM or faster.
  • Google Apps: Proficiency with G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive), and security and sharing knowledge. Ability to manage multiple Gmail accounts.
  • Adobe Acrobat: Print as PDF, troubleshoot document resolution issues.
  • Printing: Familiar with network printing, scanning and sending documents, driver installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Smartphone: Must be smartphone fluent.
  • Internet Research: Must be HIGHLY internet savvy.
  • Culture match: Support the mission and spirit of the organization and be comfortable with cannabis.
  • Relaxed demeanor and calm confidence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year of cannabis extraction experience preferred but all applicants with a mechanical background will be considered.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of computer programs as described.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

  • Current, valid driver’s license; clean driving record; valid insurance; reliable vehicle. Eligible for mileage reimbursement for company travel in personal vehicle.
  • Need to complete EPA certification - I, II & III within one month of hire.
  • Valid OLCC Worker Permit.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

Full-time, hourly position. Compensation is $17.00 - $20.00/hour DOE. There are no additional benefits.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work may require prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires close vision with the ability to see color and adjust focus. Lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly using smart lifting techniques.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is high energy, fast paced, and, due to the nature of the current regulatory landscape, is often highly stressful. Position requires regular availability to work all hours, with potential swing and night shift hours as well as occasional weekends, holidays, and events.This position has a 30-minute paid meal break for shifts of 6 or more hours.
