Job Description:

We are seeking detail oriented, mechanically inclined, and knowledgeable chemistry and/or physics enthusiasts for cannabis extraction positions with a variety of clients throughout the Coachella Valley. Extraction technicians are responsible for coordinating the daily production of high-quality cannabis concentrates and safely seperate the oily, cannabinoid- rich trichomes from cannabis flower. Ideal candidates will have working knowledge of either chemistry, physics, phytobiology, or chemical engineering. Extract technicians need to know how to use butane and carbon dioxide to create marijuana concentrates as well as operate closed- loop hydrocarbon extraction systems and process samples using analysis methods.

Job Summary:
Extraction technicians will use solvents (including carbon dioxide, ethanol and butane), heat and pressure to turn marijuana plant matter into cannabis concentrates, which are then refined to ensure purity. Extraction technicians will also collect samples for potency testing and record resulting data, and weigh, package as well as batch track cannabis products. Additionally, extraction technicians must ensure that the lab equipment and lab facility where they work are clean and otherwise well maintained.

The successful candidate will have some experience with labwork or manufacturing and working with standard operating procedures. They will also be familiar with spreadsheet software, data tracking, time tracking, and are able to follow clear and concise direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing equipment and plant materials for extraction
  • Operating highly sophisticated extraction equipment
  • Processing concentrates and extracts
  • Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility.
  • Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory.
  • Operating, maintaining, and making adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment
  • Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed.
  • Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
  • Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware.
  • Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, filing, and answering telephone inquiries.
  • Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.
Requirements:

  • Knowledge of various extraction techniques, including carbon dioxide, ethanol and butane, and have strong laboratory skills
  • Must be able to work quickly while maintaining the integrity of the product
  • Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting skills
  • Able to work independently when performing extractions and within a team when working with other lab employees, including bud trimmers and master growers.
  • Bachelors or Associates degree in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, laboratory technology or a related field. A program with an emphasis on lab work is preferre
  • Knowledge of medical and recreational marijuana law and medicinal benefits preferred, but not required
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and signage/labeling accuracy
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
