Job Description:

Job Purpose:

To provide on and off-site setup, installation, and support to our customers using our supercritical CO2 extraction machines, Cannabinoid Analytical testing, as well as pre or post processing of cannabis in its end product state.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Preparing equipment and plant materials for extraction.
  • Operating highly sophisticated extraction equipment.
  • Processing concentrates and extracts.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility.
  • Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals, and equipment used in the laboratory.
  • Operating, maintaining, and making adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, and all other laboratory equipment.
  • Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed.
  • Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
  • Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware.
  • Performing clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, filing, and answering telephone inquiries.
  • Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.
  • Follow-up with customers with support issues.
  • Add problems and solutions to help desk for all issues that arise.
  • Preparing as-built for the company’s installation.
  • Performing Pre-site and On-site assessment as per company SOP.
  • To be capable of performing Pre and Post processing chemical processes in order to maximize potency, yield, and run times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

The qualified individual should have experience as an Extraction Technician with a background in either Cannabis or Organic and Inorganic Chemistry for medical purposes. Previous experience with oil extraction techniques and familiarity with CO2 extraction processes.

  • 1+ years of experience with Supercritical Fluid Extraction in a Lab that adheres to strict health and safety policies and procedures, preferably a regulated field producing cannabis-infused, pharmaceutical or nutraceutical products.
  • Experience with Extraction Purification and Analysis preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical marijuana law and medicinal benefits.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognized college or university, with a major in chemistry or biology a related field.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related field a plus.

Experience and/or Education Requirement:

BA or BS degree from an accredited college or University preferred (not limited to degrees in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering) or 2 to 3 years of experience as an Extraction Technician, Organic Chemistry or Chemistry Lab technician position inside or outside of the cannabis space.

Must have Intermediate level knowledge of G Suite or Microsoft Office 2007 or above.

Language Requirements:

Ability to read and interpret business-related documents such as professional journals, manufacturing processes documents, technical processes, and government publications. The employee should also have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, process and/or procedures manuals as well as have the ability to present information to a group and answer management, or client questions effectively.

Mathematical Requirements:

Should have the basic understanding and how to calculate the following: interest, commissions, percentages, averages, standard deviation, circumference, area, volume, proportions, and key performance indicators. Should comprehend and be able to apply both algebraic and geometric concepts.

Reasoning Requirements:

Should have the capability of resolving problems with a diverse concrete variable in situations where only strict standardization exists. Should also be able to interpret a wide variety of instructions in written, oral, agenda, or graphic format.

Physical Demands:

While executing the duties and responsibilities of this job description, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, or listen. It is frequently required to walk, use hands, fingers, kneel, squat, and bend at the waist. The employee will frequently be required to lift or move objects of up to 25 pounds, and occasionally be required to lift or move objects of up to 80 pounds. The ability to use Near, far, peripheral, vision as well as peripheral, depth perception is required. Will also be required to travel on a moment notice to any part of the world.

Work Environment:

While executing the duties and responsibilities of this job description, the employee will occasionally be exposed to a hot and cold work environment. The work environment sound level is usually low to medium. The employee may also be required to work outdoors occasionally.
