Position Overview
The Processing Manager oversees the production and facility maintenance of all equipment, extraction processes, decarboxylation, winterization and packaging for all oil, concentrates and infused products. Responsible for day-to-day operations related to post-processing refinements of oil & concentrates. Duties performed include compliance, quality control, cost, and safety oversight for the processing facility and staff. The Processing Manager is also in charge of equipment and supply procurement, and maintaining vendor relationships. This position also communicates with the Sales and Marketing Department of IGM to plan for products.
Job Functions
- Ensure compliance with Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures, as well as all relative Illinois state laws and rules.
- Manage daily operations of the Extraction Lab(s) and Kitchen.
- Plan, schedule, and direct the performance of assigned staff.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment including glassware, tools and utensils are available and in good working order.
- Maintain strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory.
- Ensure that all material safety data sheets for the department’s chemicals and products are available and utilized by staff.
- Maintain laboratory at the highest level of sanitation.
- Responsible for all seed to sale tracking and other reporting out of these rooms and processes.
- Responsible for working with Office Manager and General Manager to coordinate ordering of all equipment and supplies needed to support these processes.
- Responsible for “owning” SOPs, Checklists, Operations Manuals that cover processes, equipment, and compliance for these departments. Any suggested process changes need to be done in coordination with GM and Director of Production for Mission/4Front.
- Processing Manager may be required to assist the Cultivation Department as needed.
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in state-legal cannabis extraction and processing
- Bachelor’s degree and/or one or more years of management experience
- Basic computer operating skills; advanced MS Excel knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail
- Able to: lift and carry at least 50 lbs.; reach arms above head; stand for up to eight hours a day
- Knowledge of medical cannabis cultivars and delivery forms
- Passion to serve people with debilitating conditions
- Current Agent Registration ID Card issued by the State of Illinois
Preferred Skills/Abilities
- Prior experience working within the medical marijuana industry
- Knowledge of BioTrack THC, MJFreeway or other Cultivation Seed to Sale Inventory Tracking System
