Summary

The Engineering Manager plans, organizes and directs engineering to meet company objectives for design, new product development and improvement of existing product lines by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.


Essential Functions

  • Aids the R&D department in planning and formulating aspects of research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be used from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
  • Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis. Plans documentation system.
  • Selects, develops, trains and supervises staff.
  • Develops, determines and implements policies, procedures and programs.
  • Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones.
  • Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
  • Approves and submits proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds or allocates funds from the department budget.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, validation protocols
  • (IQ/OQ/PQ's) and staff conferences to inform management of current status of each project.
  • Working with the manufacturing, batching, extraction, and quality managers, to review and monitor quality and process improvements and new product development.
  • Directs the review of production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of Trulieves facilities.
  • Reviews operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain engineering requirements to develop new markets.
  • Directs preparation of accounting records for budgetary, production efficiency or other such purposes.
  • Recommends budgets to management, including staff use, technology, facility and equipment requirements or improvements.
  • Negotiates contracts with consulting firms to perform research or other applicable studies or support if necessary.
  • Directs appropriate support for manufacturing and quality systems functions within the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees (Manufacturing Engineer and Controls Engineer) of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.


Required Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • Four to six years' related experience or training.
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Background

Additional Requirements

  • Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.

Salary is $85K annually or commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 50+ hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
