Pre-doctoral Clinic Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Dispensary Assistant 2 performing a variety of clinic support activities. Reporting directly to the Dental Clinic Supervisor, the primary responsibilities include dispensing supplies and equipment in a dental clinic, making unit assignments using designated guidelines, and ordering supplies for the clinic.
- Order materials and supplies for the comprehensive care clinic; primarily restorative dentistry materials and supplies. Order may be prepared electronically.
- Monitor inventory in dispensaries assuring adequate supply levels available for patient care.
- Using the School's infection control guidelines, dispense and monitor return of materials and equipment following the designated check out protocol which may include a computerized system.
- Using the School's infection control guidelines, store and dispense the backup sterile instruments and major equipment that is maintained in the dispensary, (e.g. cavitrons, sonic scalers, pulp tester, etc.)
- Using the School's infection control guidelines, maintain general supply counters, keeping supplies adequately filled and area clean.
- Perform weekly spore testing on autoclaves and other sterilizers for the School of Dentistry.
- Using the School's infection control guidelines, participate in the preparation and delivery of single unit packages disposable supplies for patient care.
- Stock and log antibiotics for patient pre-medication. Dispense medications as directed by supervising dentist.
- Using the School's infection control guidelines, disinfect equipment and supplies stored in dispensary areas.
- Order infection control supplies and monitor inventory.

REQUIREMENTS
- High School graduation or GED;
- One year of Dental Assisting/environment experience.
- Medical/technical post-secondary education may substitute for up to six months of required experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of dental materials and disinfection procedures for dental offices preferred.
- Ability to comprehend and apply state and federal infection control guidelines in dentistry.
- Ability to work with a large number of people having a diverse background.
- Experience working with a database preferred.
- Demonstrates excellent custom service
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skill
- Individuals in this position are required to participate in ongoing training sessions relating to infection control procedures and related state and federal guidelines.
- Individuals in this position are expect to adhere to the asepsis policies and procedures as outlined by the School of Dentistry Hazard Communication Manual which includes the use of appropriate personal protective attire.
- Individuals in this position are required to participate in ongoing dental materials inservices training offered by the school and maintain current knowledge of the supplies and equipment used in the general clinics.
- It is an expectation that persons in this position will work cooperatively with all members of the clinic support team.
