Position Overview:

The Director of Sales will take ownership for all revenue-generating activities -- they will be responsible for formulating the company’s overall sales strategy and developing a targeted sales plan. They will execute on that plan as a player-coach to three sales representatives to achieve individual and team sales quotas.

Serving as a member of Sweet Grass Kitchen’s Leadership team, the Director of Sales will work closely with leaders across departments to understand business needs, solve issues, and help set strategic priorities. In particular, they will collaborate with the Director of Marketing and the Chief Financial Officer to develop and implement appropriate strategies and tactics to drive Sweet Grass Kitchen’s growth. They will also ensure a flow of relevant insights between Sales and Production, contributing to the creation of solutions that enhance our brand promise and the company’s revenue potential.

Every day is different in the cannabis industry, but an initial set of responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the Chief Financial Officer to develop ambitious yet realistic forecasts and revenue plan for existing and new products
  • Analyze and refine the current Sales Strategy
  • Create annual and quarterly sales quotas for Sales team members, and refine the current incentive structure to facilitate a teamwork mentality while rewarding individualized goals
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to align annual sales and marketing plans
  • Report sales progress toward forecast to the Leadership team weekly
  • Stay current on factors affecting Sweet Grass Kitchens addressable market -- including regulatory changes, business opportunities, and competitors -- and quickly make corresponding adjustments to strategy or tactics
  • Create and monitor process for identifying and prioritizing Sales Qualified Leads
  • Create a process for customer retention that sustains and elevates the company’s revenue goals
  • Ensure robust data collection and recording in the current CRM and assist the team with use of sales tools.
  • Manage daily and weekly activities, pipelines, and closed deals to create accountability for results based on successful pipeline management
  • Recruit, evaluate, select, and manage sales reps and key accounts within a specific territory who are capable of achieving objectives for the company
  • Management of order fulfillment team and operations to accurately forecast, order, and transport products to customers, ensuring world class customer service and satisfaction
  • Take a “hands on” approach to generating topline -- spending time “in the field” with our customers is necessary to meeting our goals.
  • Handle customer escalations with grace and empathy

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with selling, forecasting and planning
  • Experience with leading, managing, and holding a sales team accountable
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven track record of sales successes- consistently hitting and exceeding sales goals
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • “Can-do” positive attitude

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary commensurate with experience. Discretionary, performance based bonus program
