Job Description:

Serenity Lane is located in Lane County, Oregon. It is a not-for-profit organization operating since 1973. Our new state of the art hospital and residential treatment campus is located five miles north of Eugene in Coburg, OR. We also operate eight outpatient treatment offices throughout the state. We treat a broad range of alcohol and substance use disorders. Specialized treatment tracts exist for chronic pain patients, co-occurring disorders and healthcare professionals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY: Direct nursing and related services in the Hospital Unit, Outpatient offices and Resident Health Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Plans organization of departments, identifies department goals, and delegates responsibilities to create well defined positions, lines of authority, responsibility, and effective use of staff.
  • Plans the work of the respective departments and coordinates activities with those of other Serenity Lane Departments.
  • Supervises maintenance of personnel records according to Personnel Department policies, and Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Assures the delivery of the appropriate orientation and in-service training for staff members.
  • Interviews applicants and supervises employees. Documents actions according to personnel policies.
  • Makes recommendations to Medical Director for hiring and staff discipline.
  • Assess and plans for staffing needs to insure available staff for adequate delivery of services.
  • As delegated by the Medical Director, assumes fiscal responsibility for departments, assisting
    in budget planning, statistical reporting, and policies.
  • Operates within approved annual budget for departments.
  • Initiates and presides at staff meetings. Submits minutes to the Medical Director.
  • Directly supervises and evaluates work performance of lead staff. Schedules and conducts performance evaluation conferences.
  • Is a member of the following Hospital Committees: Quality Improvement, Safety, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, and Clinical Core.
  • Evaluates productivity of departments on on-going basis. Monitors use of sick time, overtime, and employee retention.
  • Participates in Director meetings and other administrative meetings as requested.
  • Supports and carries out rules/regulations and policies developed by administrative staff. Keeps the Medical Director informed of department goals, policies, and problems.
  • Ensures timely reviews of job descriptions, standards of performance, and policies & procedures.
  • Initiates and revises policies and procedures to meet departmental goals.
  • Interacts with other department leadership, physicians, and administrative staff to enhance inter-departmental team work.
  • Assists in development and implementation of infection control policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Must have experience supervising, hiring and discipline of nursing personnel.
  • Must have high proficiency in nursing skills related to substance use disorders treatment including medication withdraw support and medication assisted treatment.
  • Must be able to interact with and relate to physicians and clinical staff.
  • Proficiency in operation of computers and programs related to nursing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess R.N./ BSN and active license in the State of Oregon.
  • Preference for Master’s level degree.
  • Must have a minimum of five years supervisory experience
  • Preference for knowledge and experience with substance use disorders and/or psychiatric patients.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current Nursing license from state of Oregon

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current driver’s license
  • Urine drug screen free of substances including Cannabis THC
