The Director of Cultivation will be responsible for the direction and oversight of multiple cultivation teams, each operating in different types of facilities and utilizing varying grow methodologies. He/she will be responsible for managing the planning, design, construction, and operations for Next Big Crop’s cultivation projects. The Director of Cultivation will manage client relationships, and collaborate with the client, their team, contractors, local authorities, regulatory bodies, Next Big Crop’s team and General Cannabis in order to achieve smooth, consistent and profitable operations. Cultivation project-types include warehouse/indoor, greenhouse, outdoor and hemp.
Duties and responsibilities
Responsible for managing multiple cannabis cultivation facilities, both medical and recreational, ranging from 10k SF to 300k SF
She/he will oversee all propagation, plant maintenance, plant nutrition, pest management, harvest/dry/cure and inventory-tracking
Design nutrient recipes and schedules, using both pre-made fertilizers as well as from base salts
Oversee the design, installation and operation of advanced automation/environmental control systems such as Argus, Netafim etc.
Manage, supervise and direct the activities of all cultivation staff, and make decisions regarding hiring, discipline, termination or advancement
Collect and review data to optimize yields for each strain/harvest and work with senior management to make improvements
Identify and implement ways to decrease capital and operating expenses through design, process, and equipment
Update and implement all Cultivation SOPs and related associated documents
Navigate regulatory and compliance considerations, and develop and implement processes and standards based on regulations, which vary in each location
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Managed 100,000+ SF cannabis cultivation facility
10 years+ of industry experienced
4-year degree from an accredited university
Expert level knowledge of all growing mediums, nutrient regimens, cultivation methodologies, environmental requirements and cultivation techniques.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office – strong Excel skills required
Construction experience, including an ability to read and understand building plans, proficiency in heavy equipment operation, and a working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
Ability and desire to travel and live in new areas for 6-12 months at a time.

Ability to get things done and make decisions in an autonomous work environment without extensive oversight
