Job Description:

The Pace Center is beginning the second year of its relaunch and is excited to be hiring a Director of Community Cultivation to expand on the programs that gained such traction in year one. The Pace Center developed opportunities on VCU’s Campus for students, faculty, and staff of all backgrounds to gather, eat, and share with one another. The goal of these gatherings were for the participants to have a space to share their stories, learn from those with whom they may not regularly engage, and begin to discover their unique purpose in serving their community. The Director of Community Cultivation will be responsible for continuing to create platforms for students to develop a communal space focused on relationship building and servant leadership. Areas of focus for the upcoming year will include addressing food insecurity on campus as well as the lack of interdisciplinary, interfaith, and interracial engagement on campus. It will be vital for this position to develop partnerships with students, student organizations, VCU administration, and community partners. The Director of Community Cultivation will receive training in Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) in order to assist in program development.

Some duties of the position include:
Continuing listening campaign of the VCU Campus

Recruiting and organizing students for the 2nd Annual Multi-Cultural Thanksgiving and ongoing Community Conversations.

Supporting the Director in developing opportunities for students to engage in the greater Richmond area.

Developing and administering a database of interested parties and participants for each event.

Seeking grant funding for programs as they develop.

Currently, this position is being funded as a part-time position for 15-30hrs a week. However, there is a significant chance the position will develop into a full-time position in the coming months as community partnerships develop.

The Pace Center is a ministry sponsored by the United Methodist Church to the greater Virginia Commonwealth University community. It is located in the heart of VCU’s campus in Richmond, Virginia.
