Job Summary

The Digital Press Operator must be a dependable self-starter capable of working independently and as a member of a team on a variety of Epson roll-to-roll printers, Afinia label printer/finishers, laminators, cutters, plotters and Vanguard flat-bed UV presses. The candidate must have a positive attitude and work as a team member in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience

• 2 Years minimum experience operating medium/large format digital print press IE: Epson, Vanguard, Hewlett Packard, and Afinia.
• Prepare graphic files for ripping for digital printing
• Ensure that all colors are consistent through the RIP process and that all files are sent through the RIP under the correct environmental settings.
• Maintain all equipment in a clean and operable manner by performing scheduled maintenance in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.

Qualifications

• Excellent math and analytical skills required. Detail oriented.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude under tight deadlines.
• Effective written and oral communications skills.
• 1-4 years of graphics arts industry experience. Large Format Imaging and/or production experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the common materials and processes used in the large format industry.
• Strong computer skills

Knowledge of current Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Onyx RIP software is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Process work orders via Oracle Netsuite

• Maintain a current graphic/printing production board.

• Actively participating in a minimum of one scheduled production meeting a week with group operations to discuss upcoming workflow and team support.

• Continuous follow-up and meeting with production team members to obtain advanced production information.

• Manage scheduled printer maintenance and general service contractors.

• Assist in creating established guidelines and workflow for internal and external clients as related to graphics/printing.

• Establish and maintain department workflow and crew training.

• Assist in creating internal Graphics and Print Shop menu of services and pricing guidelines.

• Printing products delivered on-time at all times (with coded paperwork).

• Maintains healthy and accurate stock levels of departmental supplies.

• Provide costing estimates for custom projects when needed.

• Provide cost reports as scheduled.

• Maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment. Experience working in a 5S environment a plus.

• Prepare graphic files for print.

• Manage outside vendor print jobs when needed.

• Supervise the cutting, mounting and lamination of finished print media.

QUALIFICATIONS

At Minimum Training, Education & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years experience in graphics and printing

• Quick learner with energy to drive aggressive and flexible deadlines

• Proficient with applicable printing software
• Familiarity with color management and ICC Profiles

• Ability to read file sizes, prepare color collaborations, print and finish media

• Responsible for the pre-flighting and prepping of files for print production; layout and imposition
• Experience troubleshooting printers

• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including weekends

• Strong management and communication skills

• Self-starter with a great work ethic and demonstrated excellence in customer service

• Must be flexible and able to adapt to peak volume and rushed orders while maintaining a keen eye for detail and quality
