Primary Role: The dental dispensary technician manages the distribution and collection of dental instruments, materials and supplies throughout the clinical system.

  • Using our material management software system, the employee will dispense clinic supplies, materials and instruments for all patient care activity and preclinical activity. Check equipment in and out of dispensary areas to students. Ensures proper utilization and compliance with clinic equipment loan policies and procedures.
  • Prepare various dental procedure packages and other consumable packaging. Prepare kits for distribution to students, and ensure tracking of assets
  • Take inventory of instruments and maintain inventory level and records. Identify and replace instruments as needed. Responsible for equipment control and security of dental equipment and instrument cassettes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years of related experience in a dental setting. Up-to-date immunizations and annual TB test.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of dental instruments, dental materials, supplies and equipment. Knowledge of dental terminology and dental procedures. Strong customer service skills. Professionalism in communication and demeanor. Effective planning and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow through, take direction, prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and handle the demands to assist dental students, faculty and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Dental assisting program graduate.
2 years’ experience as a dental assistant.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

Constantly operates instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment. Remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Move up to 50 lbs and push up to 25 lbs. Ability to work in confined areas around dental units and in dirty and clean instrument rooms. Transporting supplies and instruments to dental units. Regular attendance.
