SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Responsible for all orchard cultivation operations such as pesticide/herbicide and fertilizer applications, nursery, inventory and scheduling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Issues detailed work assignments and directions to assigned personnel.
- Monitors the progress of all cultivation operations such as pesticide/herbicide and fertilizer applications, giving particular attention to quality and quantity of work.
- Plans and coordinates all cultivation work such as replanting, tree removal, nursery, general orchard maintenance.
- Submits labor and production reports as required, reviews employee’s time sheets to insure accuracy and completeness.
- Keeps detailed records of herbicide/pesticide applications.
- Maintains proper inventory records.
- Responsible for all equipment under his/her control, and reporting deficiencies to the Operations Management Associate and the Garage Supervisor.
- Complies with and enforces all safety rules and practices to meet the company’s objective to insure a safe work environment for all employees.
- Works in close cooperation with other supervisors to have all work properly tied in with overall orchard operations.
- Orders necessary supplies for department, (i.e. pesticides, fertilizers, etc.)
- Maintains and updates MSDS file for department.
- Makes prescribed reports to higher authority on a timely basis as required.
- Performs general management responsibilities inherent with the level of organizational status providing information on general orchard problems, administration of company policies, implementation of employee training and safety programs and labor agreement administration in such a manner as to foster good productive employee relations.

- If not certified, must become certified as pesticide applicator for research and demonstration in the State of Hawaii within six (6) months of employment
WORK CONDITIONS:
- Work is typically performed in an outdoor/field environment.
- Exposed to pesticides, dirt and wetness.
- Work hours are subject to change, with weekend and/or holiday work as needed
- Must be able to multi-task
- Should be able to use common office equipment
- Must have a valid Hawaii Driver’s License to operate assigned motor vehicle
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, & Professional Association):
Mandatory –
- Must hold or be able to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Certification/License within the first 6 months of employment.
- Must have experience with pesticide/fertilizer applications.
- Must have educational courses and / or experience in farming/agriculture environment.
- Must have a Valid Hawaii driver’s license.
Preferred
- Associate Degree in Agriculture
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators Certification/License
