Job Description

The Cultivation Manager (New York) shall be responsible for managing all cultivation operations and employees in PharmaCann LLC’s Hamptonburgh, NY facility pursuant to Company directives, GAP and PharmaCann SOPs. This position reports to PharmaCann LLC’s Director of Operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Manages a large-scale greenhouse
  • Performs all the tasks in the grow cycle, including transplanting, feeding, cloning, cropping, inventory management, etc
  • Hires, trains and manages a cultivation team of 20 employees
  • Establishing and retaining sufficient number of lead cultivation technicians and cultivation technicians at each facility, and ensures proper training of lead cultivation technicians and cultivation technicians.
  • Establishing key areas of responsibility, leadership, and reporting for each member of the cultivation team.
  • Ensuring, through direct work with the NY sales and dispensary teams and with the NY Operations Manager that the quantity, mix, and yield of strains planted will meet patients’ and the overall patients market needs for medicine and treatment, meet the dispensaries’ demands for product, and meet Processing’s needs for the quantity, mix and yield of strains that will be used to produce the desired amount of each of the company’s product brands.
  • Setting cultivation goals for each manufacturing facilities including but not limited to:
  • Routine daily activities required to ensure plant maintenance and general operation of the cultivation areas (i.e. “Routine Activities”)
  • Routine daily activities required to ensure clones and mother maintenance and generation operation of the propagation room to ensure adequate feedstock for crop production (i.e. “Propagation Activities”)
  • Measuring and reporting performance metrics and criteria with respect to cloning, potting, clearing pots from rooms (i.e. “Planting Activities”)  Daily and Weekly goals  Monthly Goals  Labor hours and labor cost for cloning, potting, and clearing pots from rooms per room and per plant.
  • Establishing and implementing plans for continuously improving Routine, Propagation, and Planting Activities, establishing new work team structures, and new methodologies.
  • Identifying and securing new tools, equipment, and new supply items needed to implement new techniques and processes that provide step change improvements in cultivation performance.
  • Improving per plant and per plantable sf. yields
  • Reducing per plant energy and consumable use
  • Increasing yield per labor hour input
  • Establishing planting and harvesting schedules;
  • Setting budgets for cultivation operations at each manufacturing facility
  • Identifying and tracking the characteristics of the various strains planted to maximize growing efficiency. Develop growing and greenhouse utilization plans to maximize growing efficiency for the company’s mix of products and needed strains
  • Ensuring that parts, equipment and supplies are adequately ordered for cultivation operations at each manufacturing facility;
  • Ensuring that IPM is instituted in each manufacturing facilities
  • Manage and supervise Lead Cultivation Technicians as the facility expands.
  • Ensure that adequate and accurate management reporting is generated for each facility on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Ensure that the cultivation operations at each manufacturing facility are adequately hired, staff, supervised and trained
  • Ensure that all cultivation related standard operating procedures are followed including, but not limited to:
  • All cultivation practices,
  • Inventory
  • GAP,
  • IPM, and
  • Security SOPs
Qualifications

  • Horticulture background with 5-10 years’ experience leading a large scale commercial plant cultivation center
  • Knowledge of plants, diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform manual labor tasks required for the management of the greenhouse
  • Knowledge of cannabis growing preferred
  • Strong leadership experience, with experience leading large teams
  • Operations management mindset and approach to leading the cultivation center
  • Strong attention to detail
