Bilingual Substance Abuse Counselor

Full-time, 35 hours/week, New London Clinic

The Hartford Dispensary, founded in 1871, is a leading behavioral healthcare provider dedicated to treating substance abuse and addiction. Today, the Hartford Dispensary is one of the largest provider of methadone treatment in the country. The agency treats over 5,000 patients per day within its network of nine statewide clinics.

The Hartford Dispensary is currently seeking a passionate, hardworking, bilingual Substance Abuse Counselor to become a member of the agency. The substance abuse counselor role is critical in assisting with the agency's mission and vision. The ideal candidate will be process oriented, possess strong program/project management skills, and excellent communication skills. Position Summary

The substance abuse counselor is responsible for individual, group, and family counseling services; assessment and evaluation; individualized treatment planning, referrals, record keeping and documentation, urine monitoring, patient fee system, front desk coverage and other counseling and clinical duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure & Experience

Master's degree with an active clinical license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LADC) or a master's degree and licensed eligible in CT in a related field. Strong computer skills and at least one year of full-time counselor experience in the behavioral health field. Substance abuse treatment experience preferred.
