Who are we looking for?

We’re on the lookout for a smart, detail oriented, motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who is excited by the opportunity to help build something incredible from the ground up. Reporting to the Controller, the ideal candidate will have strong cost accounting knowledge in a consumer goods production environment, a customer service focus, the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and a desire to work with a professional, results-driven team. This job is full time and can be based in either Santa Barbara or Desert Hot Springs. Some travel within California is required.

As Cost Accountant, what will you be responsible for?

Oversight of inventory tracking and related activities at multiple locations, to ensure accurate and timely costing, valuation and completion of transactional activities

Costing of inventory; analyzing production variances and providing insight into inventory cost fluctuations

Assist in accounting participation in physical inventory count activities

Review invoice approval and coding, including supplier payments

Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor

Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs

Making estimates of new and proposed product costs, assists in preparing costing data for major business quotes

Supporting the monthly GL close process as required

Maintaining accurate cost of goods sold accounting

Maintaining and reconciling all procurement records for accuracy, control and analysis

Performing other duties as assigned

What skills and background should you bring?

Bachelor’s degree combined with 3-6 years of relevant work experience

Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and technical GAAP accounting skills

The ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize in a fast paced environment

Highly collaborative team player with the ability to enforce policies and procedures in a non-threatening manner

A combination of public and private accounting (preferred)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Professional attitude and a strong work ethic

Demonstrated success where personal results and accountability are evident

Advanced PC skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel 


Knowledge of Quickbooks Enterprise or other cloud based accounting systems
