This role supports the Legal and Compliance team in assisting with regulatory and legislative coordination within the states where we operate or plan to operate in addition to other compliance related duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Legal and Compliance team to ensure compliance with all applicable state, county and municipal laws, ordinances and regulations, including the specific cannabis regulations for that state.
  • Works independently to assist lawyers and provide support to the lawyers with transactional matters
  • Assists with creation of corporations and limited liability companies, including preparation of formation documents, ordering searches and overseeing all filing requirements and maintenance obligations
  • Prepares and customizes transaction documentation under direction of an attorney
  • Assists in the application process for entering new markets and assists in drafting and editing license applications
  • Handles all calendaring and scheduling for meetings, calls, and ensures all deadlines are met
  • Proofreads all documents and correspondence for accuracy
  • Prepares for and closes various corporate transactions
  • Gathers litigation and billing information to prepare responses
  • Provide legal and non-legal administrative support to attorneys
  • Manages attorney contacts and calendar
  • Processes expense reports and check requests
  • Invoice and bill reconciliation, interface with accounting department
  • Assists with the drafting, reviewing and filing of legal and regulatory documents
  • Electronically organizes and maintains all legal and corporate documents

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required

  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of corporate/transactional paralegal experience at a law firm or in-house
  • The Corporate Paralegal is Notary commissioned or willing to become a Notary
