We are looking for a mid-level transactional associate with two to four years of experience in M&A, emerging companies, or venture work at a big firm. Must be comfortable taking on a lead role on transactions. No marijuana experience necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know. You can work out of our LA, Denver, or Boston offices.
This position is responsible for managing client cases and resolving legal disputes on behalf of clients. This position will also maintain up to date knowledge of industry laws and regulations, perform legal research, provides updates and regularly consults with Senior Associate(s) and Partners.

Responsibilities of our Mid-Level Corporate Associates include but are not limited to:
- Advise clients concerning business transactions, which can range in complexity from simple to complex.
- Prepare, draft, and review legal documents, such as contracts, leases, licenses, applications, appeals, real estate closing statements.
- Contribute to the firm’s success by continuously improving client relations, profitability, productivity and the collective expertise in cannabis law and the industry that defines VS.
- Attend company sponsored events or networking groups.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate required.
- Licensed attorney in practicing state(s) required.
- 2-4 years’ experience practicing corporate law with experience in M&A, emerging companies or venture work. Must be able to run typical startup legal transactions (e.g., convertible note financings, Series A financings) with minimal oversight.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with clients, the public and individuals at all levels of the organization in a positive, collaborative manner.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Net Docs, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, DocuSign and Clio preferred.
- Exceptional organization skills, strong self-motivator with high attention to detail.
- Excellent time and deadline management skills in fast paced environment, able to juggle multiple projects and reprioritize quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to uphold highest standards of discretion and confidentiality and exercise good judgment on day-to-day decisions.
