Our client, a diversified and well respected company in the Cannabis Industry, is seeking an experienced detail oriented Controller with a versatile personality to lead a dynamic accounting team, meet deadlines and guide the financial decisions for the company by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
This role requires a clear and effective communicator and a hands-on natural leader to interact with employees and management, to build infrastructure and to guide, educate, mentor and lead the local and remote corporate accounting teams.
Top candidates for this role will have prior experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Professional for large companies, or organizations with particularly complex organizational structures, as well as a strong background in all areas of accounting, including general ledger, monthly financial closing, quarterly and annual SEC filings and SOX auditing procedures and a CPA is preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
- Assists in the analysis of significant account treatments of complex and unusual transactions
- Protect the companys assets and ensures that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitors cash balances and cash forecasts; arranges for debt and equity financing; invests funds.
- Assists in conducting budget analysis and cost analysis to advise business leaders of the most effective use of assets.
- Oversees all income, sales, use, property and payroll taxes, tax planning and develop new tax strategies.
- Establishes and maintains systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data to enhance the companys value.
- Provides executive management, C-Suite and Board of Directors and other required entities such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with financial reporting.
- Ensures accurate and timely filing of quarterly and annual SEC filings.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
- The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the type of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or another closely related field from an accredited university.
- 7-10 years of experience in public accounting.
- Prior experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Professional for large companies or those with particularly complex organizational structures.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
- Prior experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP etc).
- Advanced skills in the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Compensation
- $120-140K Plus Bonus and Benefits
