DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES *

  • Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities of all or part of the organization.
  • Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting duties; prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities; monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions, and collaborating accordingly with HR.
  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
  • Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
  • Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
  • Report to executive leadership and management regarding the finances of the organization; advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
  • Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels.
  • Coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.
  • Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine and maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities of the organization.
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Compliance responsibilities to include compliance with regulatory provisions; coordinate annual external audit; monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants; ensure compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
  • Responsible for activities in areas such as accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, record keeping, data entry, and collection activities for the organization.
  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  • Any other related duties or responsibilities as assigned by Harvest executives and management.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS *

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Controller or similar management position.
  • Expertise in cost accounting.
  • Financial analysis experience is a plus.
  • CPA or CMA is a plus.
  • Retail or manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
  • QuickBooks experience is a plus; experience with various accounting software and financial analysis software systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to positively influence people; must be capable of effectively interacting at all levels in the organization.
  • Detail oriented with an eye on process optimization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to manage high stress situations, and to be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires it.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership both verbally and through written media
  • Must be able to handle constructive criticism and guidance and offer the same to others in the department.
  • Ability to articulate job goals in a manner they’re completed effectively the first time.
  • If necessary, ability to work 7 days per week and to be flexible with schedule.
EDUCATION *

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration is required.
