Our company is growing quickly, and we are building an accounting team to support further growth We seek an experienced controller with the desire to help us grow and benefit as we move forward.
The controller will assist the CFO in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial information and analyzing and interpreting the information detailing assets, liabilities and capital to ensure that management and other constituents have accurate information to make sound business decisions by performing the following main duties:
- Overall responsibility for month end closing activities, creation of financial statements and schedules supporting year-end audit work.
- Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Holds judgment and decision making responsibilities on key financial areas including, but not limited to, the company’s accounting policies, establishment of budgets and daily cash management.
- Manages accounts payable, g/l and sales audit.
- Responsible for reviewing the accounting and reconciliation for the more complex areas of accounting.
- Performs various accounting/analytical projects assigned by management.
- Prepares monthly financial packages for management and other parties.
- Files quarterly and annual wholesale sales tax returns as required;
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and make recommendations regarding company policy.
- Assist with the creation of budgets and monthly variance analysis.
- Perform analysis and reporting on inventory and margin accounts, including defective allowance, shrink, LCM, markdown monies and aged inventory.
- Additional duties and projects as required.
Required Qualifications and/or Experience
- Minimum four years’ employment experience as a controller or assistant controller is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
- CPA or MBA preferred.
- Must have effective verbal and written communication in order to communicate in a clear, concise manner.
- Demonstrate proficiency with computer systems and spreadsheets.
- Must possess strong supervisory and coordinator/organizational skills.
- Must be detail oriented and strong technical resource.
- Familiarity with accounting software packages preferred.
