Our client in the real estate, investment and property management industry, is looking for a successful Controller with real estate experience.
The Controller will establish financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information in addition to managing accounting staff.
Job Duties
- Meet accounting financial objectives by forecasting, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
- Responsible for human resource objectives within the accounting department by recruiting, selecting, training and coaching accounting staff.
- Must be able to clearly communicate job expectations as well as review performance, paying close attention to the enforcement of company policies and procedures.
- Achieve accounting operational objectives by recommending strategic plans and reviewing, preparing and completing action plans.
- Closely follow and implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards and resolve problems, complete audits, identify trends, determine system improvements and implement change.
- Confirm financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data and will be responsible for preparing special reports.

- Maintain accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts, as well as defining accounting policies and procedures.
- Guide other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and apply observations and recommendations to operational issues.
- Maintain financial security by establishing internal controls.
- Avoid legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforce accounting regulations, recommend new procedures.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, read professional publication, maintain personal networks and participate in professional organizations.
- Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

- Developing Budgets, Legal Compliance, Tracking Budget Expenses,
- SFAS Rules, Accounting, Managing Processes, Reporting Research Results, Management Proficiency, Coordination, Motivating Others, Attention to Detail
Required Industry Experience
- Real Estate Brokerage, Investment, and/or Property Management is Required
- Experience in the Cannabis Industry desired
- 5-7+ Yrs Industry Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Admin is Required
- Management Experience: Supervised and Managed 3+ people for 3 plus years
- CPA preferred
Salary Range: $100-120K DOE Plus Benefits
