The Werc Shop is a leading cannabis technology company with analytical testing and manufacturing facilities in multiple states. We are a dedicated group of scientists and engineers dedicated to advancing cannabinoid medicine and science. We are aggressively expanding into multiple states and are seeking candidates capable of leading multiple construction projects from their conception through to equipment installation.
Manage company efforts throughout entire life-cycle of construction projects:
- Leads all facets of project management (budget, schedule, procurement, quality & risk) of all assigned construction projects including planning, design, permits, construction, occupancy and closeout.
- Plans, organizes, and prepares reports to upper management regarding the status and/or progress of the projects.
- Develop schematic designs based on the production requirements including but not limited to facility floorplans, equipment list/information (schedule), and building assessments with the support of the company’s engineering department. Able to determine equipment’s location based on type, size and other specifications to fulfill the end-user’s requirements and comply applicable building codes. Requires knowledge of city, state and national building code analysis and interpretation.
- Determine the scope of work with the support of the project team based on the company’s production requirements and end-users. Establish the construction’s scope of work to ensure an accurate development and completion of the project.
- Prepare and provide document packages to the Architecture/Engineering firm for design development and provide necessary support to the Designer of Record to ensure the completion of the design and permitting phase.
- Manage the projects’ review and approval process to ensure appropriate completion of all design work. Review pre-construction documents and submits comments to Designer as necessary.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce project budgets. Monitors the project budget on a bi-weekly basis and ensures that the budget accurately reflects the project status/progress.
- Capable of doing plans “take-off” and finding competitive unit prices to estimate construction costs.
- Lead creation of work plans and CPM schedules in collaboration with project team. Update project schedules (CPM) on a weekly basis to assure time control using provided scheduling tool (Microsoft Project).
- Manage, oversee, and coordinate the project’s procurement process including identifying construction’s goods/services needed, select vendor/provider, submit purchase requisitions, identifying lead times and coordinate deliveries with the support of the company’s engineering department.
- Manage the bid-award process including quote reviews and contract negotiations for consultants, contractors and vendors for assigned construction projects.
- Review the process and monitor payments for the contractors, architects, engineers and any other pertinent parties including but not limited to equipment vendors and other suppliers related to the construction projects.
- Manage daily activities of the contractor, reviews contractors’ construction schedules and submittals, and coordinates responses to the contractors’ inquiries.
- Advise team with practical understanding of building materials, construction technology and detailing, including knowledge of related codes
- Oversee and assist local stake-holders to keep construction on schedule and budget. Provide all construction related documentation to facility managers. Work with on-site facilities engineers to manage on-going facility renovation efforts after initial build-out.
- Maintain an organized digital record of all construction related documents.
- Provide leadership to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with all those involved in the project.

Minimum Requirements
- Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management. State license is a plus.
- Interested in working with a team of scientists and engineers leading the cannabis industry.
Preferred Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise
- Capable of performing building codes analysis including all applicable commercial/industrial regulations for light industrial chemical processing facilities. Experience with hazardous materials handling and storage is a plus.
- Computer skills with design, construction and project management related software. (Revit, Autocad, ArchiCAD, MS Project, Primavera P6, other AEC related software).
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office especially Excel for budgeting, estimating, reporting and other purposes.
- Must be willing to travel extensively (up to 50%) as projects or tasks require
- Accustomed to taking initiative and comfortable working in a small business/startup setting where they will be the subject matter expert and have full responsibility and control.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,000.00 to $75,000.00 /year
