Job Description:

We are poised and ready for the Big Time and need an experienced Compliance Manager to support our navigation through the legal minefields ahead.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Compliance Manager will oversee application submission, reporting and account management for all required regulatory compliance, both corporate and cannabis specific, to multiple government agencies, insurance providers and financial institutions, as well as keeping up to date on changes in applicable laws and regulatory programs, permitting, licensing and reporting requirements. This role focuses on both high-level understanding of regulatory programs and day-to-day operations to keep all permits, licenses, policies and accounts in good standing. This position will also serve as clerk to the Board of Directors and assist executive team in maintaining relationships with shareholders, investors and other key persons.

This position will work closely with our Director of Finance and executive team on ensuring compliance with regulations, reporting to government agencies, banking, insurance coverage, as well as establish and maintain relationships with government officials and administrators to expedite permitting and licensure, and retain open and constructive communication between the company and regulators.

What You'll Do:
1. Work closely with Director of Finance, Head of Operations, and executive team to ensure permitting and licensure is always in good standing.
2. Identify submission deadlines for reporting and applications, and successfully prepare and execute a plan to file before all due dates.
3. Research, comprehend and report to executive team key compliance requirements for all permits, licensure, banking, insurance and other important company relationships.
4. Reach out and remain in continual communication with government regulators and agencies to ensure company remains at all times in good standing with regulators and insurance and banking providers.
5. When deemed necessary by executive team, engage and work with engineers, attorneys or other professionals to prepare submission documents.
6. Take initiative to audit company locations and practices to ensure current facilities and SOPs are compliant and make recommendations to executive team based on findings.
7. Engage with cannabis and local community development groups and government outreach programs to promote interests of company and build relationships
8. Be responsible party for filing, safekeeping and dissemination of all corporate, compliance, insurance, banking and other sensitive documentation for the company.
9. Successfully delegate clerical tasks to junior administrative team members as needed.
10. Serve as Clerk to the company's Board of Directors, take minutes at meetings and assist with preparing agendas and presentations.
11. Liaise with investors, shareholders and important individuals on behalf of the company
12. Assist executive team to prepare and disseminate updates and correspondence on behalf of executive team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Strong reading and mathematical comprehension and sharp analytical skillset.
  • Personable and diplomatic demeanor, ability to engage with professionals and government officials
  • Task-oriented, self-motivated, organized, with an overall emotional intelligence; able to be constructively critical in delicate situations.
  • Always able and willing to push interest of the company and not take "no" for an answer, with a focus on creative solutions when problem solving.
  • Able to create and maintain schedules to meet deadlines, present reports to executive teams in clear and concise manner
  • Delegate clerical tasks to other administrative team members while ensuring they are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Willing to navigate between high-level strategy and operational execution - must be willing to roll up your sleeves and get in the weeds.
  • Project management and implementation skills. Ability to navigate changing priorities with minimal information and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a relentlessly positive attitude.
  • Experience working within strict regulations and compliance preferred.
  • Experience working in both small and large companies preferred.
  • Ability to be based in Northern California or travel frequently (weekly/biweekly) between Northern California and Southern California.
